This publication is the first introduction to the life and work of Mitzi Cunliffe, a previously overlooked figure in the post-war British art, focussing on the two decades from 1950. Ann Sumner reveals Mitzi Cunliffe's achievements as a sculptor and versatility as designer, considering her in the context of the cultural life of Manchester and the north of England, where many examples of her work can still be seen.
Ann Sumner is an art historian, exhibition curator and former museum director, now as Visiting Professor leading the 'Mitzi Cunliffe and Women Artists Project, 1870 - 1970' at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University.
